About Us

Megan Fishell is a dedicated and qualified educator with a commitment to helping and loving the many children who cross her path. As a graduate of Christopher Newport University’s MAT program (Master of Arts in Teaching), Megan went on to teach at a private school before transitioning to a primary position at a local school, closer to family, where she was recognized as Teacher of the Year.

Now, with that same commitment to family in mind, she has taken a step back from traditional education to be more available for care of her aging grandmother and support of their family business. She still holds a valid, postgraduate PK-6 teaching license through the Commonwealth of Virginia with an endorsement in gifted education.

After serving homeschool families through collaboration and year-end evaluations (serving as Evidence of Academic Progress), Megan has decided to offer this service to the public. Schoolhouse Porch: Learning & Evaluation was founded on the principle of simplicity and supporting the importance of self-direction, both for parents/guardians and their children.
